"Do you have internet access here?"

Any property manager who shows offices or apartments to prospective tenants hears this question repeatedly: "Do you have internet access here?" A few years ago, telling a potential tenant that "DSL is available from the phone company" was a good answer, but these days, it's not much of an enticement. Simply put, DSL and cable internet is available everywhere.

"We have high-speed internet running to every unit in the building."

What prospective tenants really want to know today is whether or not there is free or low-cost internet access that doesn't require a telephone line. They'll think two things if you can say "every unit in this building has high-speed internet running through it":

• They can count on saving $50 - $100 each month by renting from you (especially if they use a cell phone as their primary phone number).
• Your building "gets it" when "it" comes to amenities people care about today.

Sounds great, but how much will it cost?

Most buildings choose to handle the cost just like any other amenity- using either of two methods:

• Fold the cost into the monthly rent and pay the vendor (HubbaDubba) a flat fee to service the building, regardless of how much each person uses the service (for example: trash collection is usually handled this way).
• Simply give the vendor an exclusive contract and let them collect the money directly (for example: vending machines).

Regardless of which method you choose, HubbaDubba will provide the same level of service to your building and customer support to your tenants.

Are there any setup costs for providing internet service?

Most structures built in the last 10 years have "cat 5" wiring running throughout the building to each unit. We can use this wiring for high-speed internet and accommodate two traditional phone lines simultaneously. If your building is wired in this way, offering internet service won't cost you one dime!

If your building does not meet these wiring requirements, we can install a wireless network throughout the building. A site survey is necessary to give you a precise estimate, but here's one example: we were able to extend a wireless network throughout a one-block long, 33,000 square foot building for less than $1,500.
